Your new partial denture has been created from special materials that will not succumb to the bacterial influence of tooth decay. Yet the removable dental appliance still requires some basic care and oral hygiene measures. This will help maintain the unit while also helping to preserve the health and comfort of the underlying gums.
The partial denture will need to be thoroughly rinsed each night to clear away any sugar residues, stray food matter, plaque buildup and old denture adhesive. You should then brush the denture with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a brand of denture polish that has been approved by the American Dental Association.
You can then store the denture overnight by soaking it in water and tucking it away someplace safe.
Next, you should thoroughly brush and floss your existing natural teeth and permanent dental work per your usual daily oral hygiene routine. This will help reduce your chances of suffering further cases of tooth loss, and might also help reduce your chances of experiencing bad breath. A vigorous rinse with antiseptic mouthwash might also help kill any lingering oral bacteria.
