Good Dental HabitsIf you want the strong and healthy smile you deserve, then you need to keep your teeth and gums in mind. This means you need to properly care for your teeth and gums each day by cleaning them, using good dental habits to your advantage and avoiding bad dental habits as much as possible. To help you use good dental habits and avoid bad dental habits, our dentist, Dr. Barry LeJeune, is happy to list them here:

Good dental habits
-Brushing your teeth at work and school (If you brush your teeth after lunch, you can maintain a healthy and clean smile. So, don’t forget to pack your toothbrush and toothpaste in your backpack, purse or briefcase!)

-Sipping water throughout the day (Drinking water regularly can wash your teeth, gums and smile from the bacteria that harm them)

-Wearing a mouthguard when you’re active (A mouthguard can protect your smile from injury when you participate in high-contact sports and activities)

Bad dental habits
-Chewing on hard objects (Chewing things like ice, pens, pencils and your fingernails can apply unnatural pressure to the teeth and cause tooth cracks)

-Snacking throughout the day (Snacking exposes the smile to harmful substances on a regular basis, which increases your chances of having dental issues)

-Forgetting about your dental checkups (If you forget about your dental checkups, your smile could be in grave danger, so please remember to attend your checkups every six months)
